Amethi will see development on the lines of Gujarat model if BJP comes to power at the Centre, actor-turned-party candidate Smriti Irani said today.

Addressing an election rally in Raniganj here, Irani said, "Jab Amethi me kamal (lotus - the symbol of BJP) khilega toh yahan ki sari bandh factory khulengi aur Amethi ke yuvaon ko rojgar milega (When lotus will blossom in Amethi, all closed factories will reopen and Amethi youths will have employment)..."

"Development works will be carried out in Amethi on the lines of Gujarat model... Acute problems of Amethi related to roads, power supply and piped water will be resolved soon," she said.

The BJP nominee said all this could be done successfully if Narendra Modi takes over as the Prime Minister, and urged the people to ensure her party's victory in the Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier, Irani addressed a public meeting in Thauri in Jagdishpur Assembly segment.

She said there remains "many loopholes even after the 10-year tenure of Gandhi scion (Congress vice president and sitting MP Rahul Gandhi)" and those needs to addressed.

Things that went wrong during the time of Gandhi will be corrected "with cooperation from the people of Amethi, especially youths and women who are seriously aggrieved", she added.

Without naming Gandhi, she said the leaders in Amethi who were responsible for carrying out development proved to "untrustworthy".
