Election results 2022: The counting of votes for assembly elections, held in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur, will take place on March 10. A total of 690 assembly constituencies voted between February and March, with the maximum in UP (403 seats) followed by Punjab (117), Uttarakhand (70), Manipur (60), and Goa (40).

Uttar Pradesh voted in seven phases and voters in Goa and Uttarakhand exercised their franchise in a single phase on February 14. Elections were held in two phases in Manipur on February 28 and March 5. Punjab voted in single-phase on February 20.

When will the counting begin?

According to the guidelines by the Election Commission, the counting of votes will begin from 8 am onwards on March 10.

What to watch out for as election results are declared: Key highlights

— Counting of votes in UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur will start at 8 am on March 10.


— The initial trends will indicate a possible outcome by around mid-day but the final results will be clear only by the evening.

— While the trends are likely to be clearer in Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur by afternoon, the counting is likely to take some time in Uttar Pradesh.

Assembly election results 2022: What exit polls predicted

UP exit poll result: Pollsters predicted a clear BJP-win in the state, with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party emerging runners up. Congress and BSP are likely to face embarrassing defeat, according to exit polls.

Uttarakhand exit poll result: The outcome of the hill-state will be keenly watched as exit polls favoured both the BJP and Congress.

Punjab exit poll result: Most of the exit polls predicted a big win for Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in Punjab.

Goa exit poll result: Just like Uttarakhand, most pollsters could not predict a clear majority for either BJP or Congress. The state could be heading for a hung assembly, according to exit polls.

Manipur exit poll result: The BJP was given a clear edge by most exit polls in the election to the 60-member assembly, with the Congress being seen a distant second.
