Andhra Bank, which has crossed a business volume of Rs 1,00.000 crore in India by the end of March this year, has set up five new zonal offices in Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Chandigarh for the smooth functioning of the bank in these regions.

The bank has set up the zonal offices at Berhampur (Orissa), Ongole, Nizamabad and Mehabubnagar (Andhra Pradesh) and Chandigarh. All these new zonal offices have started functioning recently.

Andhra Bank has a total of 110 branches in Orissa and earlier all these branches were put under the administrative control of the regional office in Bhubaneswar.

However, the newly formed Berhampur zonal office of the bank will now look after the administration of 40 branches in south Orissa and also 32 branches of the bank in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.

“The Berhampur zonal office will not only look after the administrative affairs of the bank but also help the customers to redress their problems.

It will have total of 72 branches under its control whose combined business volume stood at Rs 1,850 crore by the end of 2008-09,” said T Venkaiah, the newly appointed zonal manager of the bank.

He was speaking at the customers meet organised here on the occasion of the opening of the new zonal office.

Andhra Bank has the lead bank responsibility for Ganjam and Gajapati districts in south Orissa and Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.

“All the 1,400-odd branches of the Hyderabad-based bank are covered under the Core Banking Solutions (CBS). Mobile alert facilities are also being provided to the customers and the bank is mulling various attractive savings and insurance-based saving products for its customers”, added Venkaiah.

“The bank is the pioneer in providing insurance-linked policies including Abhaya Jeevan, Abhaya Gold and Abhaya Savings accounts as well as the ICD account (Insurance for Current Account).

The bank also issues instant debit cards which could be operated through ATMs of any other bank”, he claimed.

Andhra Bank has a separate wing known as Financial Services Centre (FSC) at Berhampur which takes care of all the marketing activities of the bank.

The FSC is engaged in activities like selling of mutual funds, LIC policies and collection of direct taxes.
