In its first meeting slated for January 31, the high-level Cabinet Committee on Investment is expected to consider at least 20 projects in the coal, power, oil and gas stuck for want of proper clearances.
Officials said among the projects that might be considered by the high-powered committee, constituted to fast-track clearances of projects worth over Rs1,000 crore, are oil and gas projects of Reliance Industries Ltd.
The meeting is expected to discuss ways and means to enhance funding of infrastructure projects.
The Committee, comprising 15 key Cabinet infrastructure and economic ministers, will be chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Apart from the cabinet ministers, Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Environment and forest minister Jayanthi Natarajan, and broadcasting minister Manish Tiwari are special invitees to the CCI.
