Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), today claimed that the capital's International airport has become the first airport in the world to achieve ISO 22301:2012 certification for having a strong business continuity management system in place.
DIAL, which operates Delhi Airport, has been awarded this certification by British Standards Institution (BSI) after meeting the guidelines and assessment set out by the International Organisation of Standardization (ISO).
The new certification is the latest standard on Business Continuity Management system that enables organisations to identify critical processes and to ensure business continuity with minimum disruption while its one or more critical processes are temporarily interrupted.
The new standard certification identifies that DIAL operates a strong Business Continuity Management System which covers the risk and impact associated with the disruption of critical business processes and the development and deployment of a comprehensive business continuity program, a statement from the DIAL said.
DIAL CEO, I Prabhakara Rao said, “DIAL felt that it was imperative to assess the preparedness of Delhi Airport in handling emergency situations during temporary disruption of critical processes due to unforeseen circumstances. Initiatives like these makes us better equipped to handle past incidents such as power disruption and check in system failure. Passengers travelling from Delhi airport can now rest aside their travel worries every time they travel through Delhi Airport”.
