The government has nominated D K Mittal, secretary, Department of Financial Services, as a director on the board of Reserve Bank of India, the central bank said in a release.

“Clause (d) of sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, was amended recently to allow the central government to nominate two government officials to the central board of the Reserve Bank, instead of one,” RBI said. Economic Affairs Secretary R Gopalan is the other government nominee on the board of the central bank.
