Insurers seek health pool for elderly

The same suggestion was made last year by a committee headed by K S Sastry, former chairman of the National Housing Bank.

In May 2007, Irda had constituted a seven-member committee to look into issues pertaining to senior citizen policies and health insurance. The committee had recommended an insurance pool that would be primarily sourced through government funding and involve the participation of all stakeholders, including insurance companies and policy holders.
