Nineteen fishermen were arrested by the British Naval guards at the Diego Garcia Island last week.

The captured fishermen include 13 Tamil Nadu natives, five malayalees and one from Assam.

The fishermen went for deep sea fishing in two boats from Kochi and were arrested on the on the night of May 27.

According to reports, they were arrested by the British Navy on a charge of violating international maritime border in the Indian Ocean.
