75% of MBA students at IIT-M get placed

At 46%, Master of Science stream was the lowest; only 61 of 133 students placed

At the end of the seven-day placement exercise at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), MBA students saw the highest rate of placements, while the lowest was from Master of Science course.

According to data shared by the IIT-M, of the 72 MBA students registered for placement, 54 were selected, which is 75 per cent of registered students. The Dual qualification, which is a five-year course combining two degrees, has seen 243 out of 369 students registered for placement getting placed, which is the highest number of placements in any course in the institution for the first seven days.

Of the total 1,433 students who registered for placements, 708 were placed, of which four students received placement offers four times each, eight students received three offers and 52 students got two offers each. The total number of offers were 773 while 33 students opted to deregister from the placement. B Tech has seen 213 of 397 registered students getting placed, while 131 of the 346 M Tech students were also placed during the period.

Only 61 MS students out of 131, or 46 per cent, were placed, while one of the 40 PhD students was placed. Of the 66 MSc students, one received placement.

A total of 719 offers were issued during the period, as compared to 617 offers during the same period of last year and around 188 companies participated so far compared to 151 last year.
