Backwaters 2008, the annual management-cum-cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), which will get underway on January 11, has already become the talking point of the participants and the students' community.

Among the programmes that has generated considerable interest is SAB ka Bheja Fry, an innovative media contest in association with Sony Entertainment Television (SET).

The contest gives a chance to the student 'directors' across various B-Schools to conceptualise an innovative show that can be aired on SET's youth entertainment channel, SAB.

The genre of the show along with the storyline and the characters will all be decided by the competing teams as they come out with new ways to make money through television, the spokesperson added.

Besides this, the run up to the finals of Beat the Market - Business is also getting hotter. This is a business simulation game where participating teams act as the Board of Directors of a firm and will be exposed to a simulated market situation.

Organised in partnership with Gold Simulations, a US-based firm, the contest promises to be a nail-biting challenge with participants making real-time decisions spanning across domains of marketing, research and development, finance, operations and quality and human resources. in order to reap maximum profits for their firms.
