Keeping up the pace at which companies converged on the campus on the first day of summer placements at the premier Indian Institute of Ahmedabad (IIM-A), the second day saw companies like Procter & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever, Coca-Cola, Nokia, Tata Administrative Service (TAS) and the Aditya Birla Group.
“Hindustan Unilever and Procter & Gamble, which are on top of the preference list of students looking at a career in marketing, were back on the campus to recruit summer interns for 2010. Diageo, Nokia and Coca-Cola were other sought after marketing companies,” said Nissim Nabar, member of Media Cell.
TAS and the Aditya Birla Group, which saw 15 acceptances between them, offered general management roles that found great favour among the students. Rahul Krishna, head, Human Resources, at TAS, said: “The Tatas and TAS, in particular, is committed to investing in growth of future leaders and to this effect, we at TAS put all resources into place to provide the best opportunities to the best talent.”
While Feedback Ventures, a company focused on the infrastructure sector was one of the consulting firms present, Fortress Financial Services, specialising in infrastructure, was the first-time recruiter at IIM-A this year.
Some other companies that returned to IIM-A this year and recruited from two to five interns each are Citibank, Frost & Sullivan, Edelweiss and Anand Rathi.
The first day saw corporate majors such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, P Morgan, Nomura, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, McKenzie and Boston Consulting Group. These students will join various group companies in India and abroad for a two-month period.
