RV-VLSI Design Centre, a Bangalore-based finishing school for engineering students and working professionals, has unveiled 'resume builder' - a free tool to assist engineering students under the VLSI (very-large-scale integration) and embedded system domain and to help the semiconductor industry in accessing the talent pool easily.

“The semiconductor industry in India is facing a huge talent crunch. There are more than 120 companies operating in the VLSI or the embedded systems design in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Noida and they are facing problems in sourcing and profiling the right candidate,” Venkatesh Prasad, chief executive of RV-VLSI, said.

The VLSI industry is relatively new in India and the sector is rapidly growing with adoption of fast changing technology, According to Nasscom reports, India needs around 750,000 skilled professionals under the VLSI and embedded domain by 2015, he said.

“This initiative would help the semiconductor industry gain access to qualified engineers. The centre aims to create an industry-ready talent pool through this,” he added.
