| Tourism management |
| IIM-Calcutta will be organising a programme on 'Effective Management of Tourism'. The programme aims to help the participants to achieve diversification of tourism products, packages and circuits along with qualitative and quantitative changes in their packages besides helping them to analyze, understand and assess (or reassess) the cultural self of India which would help developing innovative projects, circuits and packages. |
| The coach: Prof C Panduranga Bhatta The players: Senior and middle level managers and administrators in public and private tourism industries, executives of tourism departments run by the central and state governments, tourism development corporations, travel agencies and tour operators, entrepreneurs, policy makers, media persons, investors, consultants and academics involved in teaching tourism should participate. |
| The programme will be conducted at the IIM-C campus, Joka, from July 17-19 and the fee will be Rs 15,000 per participant. |
| Middle management programme |
| IIM-Ahmedabad will be organising '3TP: Middle Management Programme' for functional managers to enhance their managerial skills and prepare them to shoulder higher responsibilities in the future; provide them with an opportunity to learn management concepts and techniques relevant for formulating and implementing strategies in functional and general management areas and enable participants to appreciate interdependencies in an organization and acquire perspectives required in general management positions. |
| The coach: Prof Asha Kaul The players: Managers holding positions of responsibility within functional departments of medium to large public and private sector organizations. The participants should have at least five years of managerial experience. |
| The programme will be conducted at the IIM-A campus from July 09 - August 06 and fee is Rs 1,25,000 (US$ 3000 for participants from other countries). |
| Upgrading managers |
| IIM-Lucknow will be holding a programme in 'Managerial Success: A Competency Based Approach' to look at improving and upgrading managerial competencies of hard-working managers and thus facilitating greater throughputs with lesser efforts via a structured strategy. |
| First the concept of competency is explained and how it has become more necessary in the present competitive and cutthroat business world for personal and organizational successes. This enables the top managers to improve their execution power substantially. |

| US pre-departure orientation |
| The US Educational Foundation, India will hold a pre-departure orientation programme for students departing to the US this fall. The programme will be held on June 9 and will cover various immigration issues "� from first week formalities on campus to academic and socio-cultural issues, through interactive sessions. An interactive session with a panel of returnee students and a video presentation is also scheduled. The programme is open to all and requires prior registration with a fee of Rs 200. |
