Arbitrage funds give highest post-tax returns at 9%

Arbitrage funds have generated the highest post-tax returns and outperformed all other mutual fund categories over the past 12 months, an analysis of mutual fund performance by CRISIL Research showed.

During July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, arbitrage funds gave a post-tax return of nine per cent compared with 8.4 per cent for debt funds and negative 4.1 per cent for equity funds. The analysis was based on the performance of eight arbitrage funds.
