Internet firm Info Edge, which owns leading job portal naukri.Com, reported a nearly six per cent decline in its profit after tax at Rs 14.73 crore in the second quarter ended September, 2009.
The company's profit had stood at Rs 15.67 crore in the same quarter in the last financial year, Info Edge said in a statement.
Total income went down to Rs 64.51 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 72.31 crore in the corresponding period last year.
"Hiring environment is improving, albeit gradually. The drop in topline revenues and operating income reflect the high base effect of last year, but sequentially our performance has improved," InfoEdge CEO and Founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani said.
"We expect the second half to be better than the first half and all our businesses are expected to perform better in the last six months of this fiscal," Bikhchandani added.
