The Instanex Skindia DR Index (ISDI) was up by 0.58 per cent to 1148.49 on May 9, 2005 in early mornings trades. Among ISDI global depository receipts (GDRs), two advanced, one remained unchanged and four declined.
 
The gainers were-ITC, up 2.89 per cent to $33.50 and Reliance, up 1.98 per cent to $25.75 with a volume of 3,420 GDRs. The major losers were Ranbaxy, down 5.29 per cent to $21.50 with volume of 48,195 GDRs, L&T, down 1.54 per cent to $22.99 and Hindalco down 0.54 per cent to $27.85.
 
The ISDI, which tracks the ADRs and GDRs of 15 actively-traded companies, also closed up 2.13 per cent to 1152.92 on the previous day and was trading at a price to earnings multiple of 18.30.
 
Among ISDI ADRs, four advanced, one remained unchanged and three declined. The major gainers were-Satyam, up 3.79 per cent to $22.98, Infosys, up 2.30 per cent to $62.60 and Wipro, up 0.63 per cent to $19.21.
 
The losers were VSNL, down 1.53 per cent to $9.65, Dr Reddys, down 0.57 per cent to $15.70 and HDFC Bank, down 0.55 per cent to $43.13.
 
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world, US stocks opened close to unchanged on Monday. Investor sentiment seemed to be positive with mergers in the corporate sector showing some activity but there was still apprehension over oil prices.
 
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 3.78 points, or 0.04 per cent, at 10341.62. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was down 0.14 point, or 0.01 per cent, at 1,171.21. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite index was up 1.17 points, or 0.06 per cent, at 1968.52.
