Jeera futures for April rose by Rs 97.50, or 0.70%, to Rs 13,980 per quintal in 5,337 lots.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the March contract gained Rs 87.50, or 0.63%, to Rs 13,970 per quintal in 13,614 lots.

Fresh spot demand, covering-up of short positions by speculators supported jeera futures.

However, ongoing sowing operations limited the gains.
