JSW Steel has registered a growth of 30 per cent in crude steel production at 236,000 tonne in February. Similarly, production of HR coils has risen by 27 per cent at 206,000 tonne. Production of HR plates has gone up by 103 per cent to 20,000 tonne and pre-painted GI products by 167 per cent at 7,000 tonne for the same month. | |
| Although a rise in production was seen across all segments, production of galvanised products saw a dip in production by 7 per cent at 60,000 tonne. |

| The company continued to increase its production despite a fire at its Vijayanagar plant. The plant which produces 3.8 MTPA was downsized by 20 per cent due to the fire. Work on re-commissioning the furnace is under way and is expected to be on stream in April. |

| Meanwhile, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), the country's biggest steelmaker, produced 5 per cent more steel in the eleven months ended February as demand rose from makers of autos and appliances. Production advanced to 11.4 million tonne from 10.9 million tonne, Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters in New Delhi today. |
