The yellow metal prices continued their decline in the domestic market on Monday, with pure gold and standard gold falling by Rs 35 and Rs 30, respectively, from their previous close. Pure gold closed at Rs 9,305 per 10 gram on Monday, down by Rs 35 over the Saturday's close of Rs 9,340, while standard gold closed at Rs 9,260 per 10 gram on Monday, falling by Rs 30 over the Saturday's close of Rs 9,290.

The yellow metal has lost Rs 560 per 10 gram in the last six trading sessions on the back of a selling spree by stockists following a weak overseas trend. Gold prices have dropped as the dollar gained against other leading currencies such as euro, reducing the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative asset.
