Maize futures prices drifted by Rs 5 to Rs 1,124.50 per quintal in future trading today on heavy selling, driven by weak spot overseas market cues.

Market analysts said poor demand from bio-fuel manufacturing industries against increased supply in physical markets mainly put pressure on futures prices of maize.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, maize price for delivery in February shedded by Rs 4.50, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 1,096 per 100 kg, with an open interest of 17,490 lots.

Near March month delivery contract eased by Rs 5, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 1,124.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,850 lots.
