Oct Auto Sales | TVS Motor registered sales of 323,368 units in October 2019

Two wheelers: Total two-wheeler registered sales of 308,161 units in October 2019 as against sales of 384,307 units in the month of October 2018.

Domestic two-wheeler registered sales of 252,684 units in October 2019 as against sales of 338,988 units in the month of October 2018. 

Exports:  Total exports grew by 20% YoY to 69,339 units (vs 57,926 units in Oct '18)

Two-wheeler exports grew by 22% YoY to 55,477 units (vs 45,319 units in Oct '18) 

Three wheelers: Three-wheeler sales grew by 8% YoY to 15,207 units (vs 14,120 units in Oct '18)

Of the 6m-ton ongoing expansion at Rs 34.3 bn capex, in Q2 the 1m-ton Kolaghat GU expansion was completed. The average cost of interest on borrowings was 7.55%, with Rs 24.41 bn gross debt at end-Q2 FY20. Lower costs (cost-optimisation and falling pet-coke prices) and the benefits of the ongoing expansion plans would result in a better performance. We expect PAT to clock a 37% CAGR over FY19-21. We have a Buy rating on the stock, with a higher target price of Rs 976 (earlier Rs 921), based on 15x FY21e EV/ EBITDA.

Risks: High pet-coke/diesel costs and falling cement prices.
