The Sensex opened at 16,210 tracking positive global cues. The index is now at 16,306, up 145 points and the NSE Nifty is at 4,875, up 45 points.
Among the list of gainers, Sterlite Industries and Hindalco have advanced 3% each to Rs 759 and Rs 155, respectively.
Tata Steel has increased 2% to Rs 586. DLF, Hero Honda, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank are up 1% each.
HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever are the only marginal losers on the Sensex.
