Supported by rising demand from steel makers at the physical market, nickel prices edged up by Rs 3.20, or 0.32 per cent, at Rs 1,013.80 per kg in futures trade today.
A firm trend in Asian trade on upbeat US data also supported the hike in nickel futures prices here.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August-month contracts gained Rs 3.20, or 0.32 per cent, at Rs 1,013.80 per kg in a turnover of two lots.
In a similar manner, the metal for delivery in September month also rose Rs 2.60, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 1,020 per kg, clocking a turnover of 10 lots.
Market analysts said strong demand from alloy-makers, and gains in base metals in Asian trading, tracking overnight gain at the LME on upbeat US economic data,influenced nickel prices in futures trade here.
