Potato prices fell by Rs 3.30 or 0.67 per cent to Rs 491.90 per quintal in futures trade today on increased arrivals from the producing centres against subdued demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for July-month contract declined by Rs 3.30, or 0.67 per cent to Rs 491.90 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,523 lots.

The potato for delivery in June contract also lost Rs 2.80, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 486.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 795 lots.

The fall in potato prices was due to increased arrivals from Haldwani and Shimla, major producing regions, against subdued demand, which led to a fall in potato prices at futures trade, traders said.
