| The major gainers were State Bank of India, up 2.36 per cent to $39.00, ITC, up 1.86 per cent to $31.25 and Reliance, up 1.16 per cent to $26.20. The major losers were L&T, down 5.91 per cent to $23.60, Bajaj Auto, down 1.23 per cent to $24.10 and Ranbaxy, down 0.84 per cent to $23.50. |
| The ISDI which tracks the ADRs and GDRs of 15 actively-traded scrips closed up 0.96 per cent to 1219.73 on April 6 and was trading at a price to earnings multiple of 19.51 (up by 0.87 per cent). |
| Among ISDI ADRs, six gained and two lost ground. The major gainers were HDFC Bank, up 3.34 per cent to $44.19, Wipro, up 1.86 per cent to $21.15 and VSNL, up 1.16 per cent to $8.75. The major losers were MTNL, down 1.98 per cent to $6.45 and Satyam, down 1.08 per cent to $23.84. |
| Meanwhile, elsewhere in the world, US blue chips opened little changed on Thursday. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 1.26 points, or 0.01 per cent, at 10487.28. The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up 0.66 point, or 0.06 per cent, at 1184.73. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite index was up 2.04 points, or 0.10 per cent, at 2001.18. |
