Select base metals rise on global cues

Select base metals prices rose by up to Rs 3 per quintal in the local non-ferrous metal market today on pick-up in industrial demand amid a firming trend at London Metal Exchange.

Traders said pick-up in industrial demand amid a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly pushed up select base metal prices.  

The copper for three-month copper rose 0.5% to $9,119 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 505, Rs 528 and Rs 488 per kg, respectively. 

Nickel (4x4) followed suit and gained Rs 3 to Rs 1,043-1,045, while lead ingot and lead imported were enquired higher by a rupee each to Rs 141 and Rs 144 per kg, respectively.
