The Sensex after having recovered partially and touched a high of 9,936, has slipped back to lower levels. The index is now down 341 points at 9,779.
Tata Steel has slumped 8% to Rs 198, and Tata Motors have plunged 7.5% to Rs 168.
Sterlite has dropped 6.6% to Rs 250, and Tata Power has tumbled 5.5% to Rs 705.
Reliance has slipped 4.7% to Rs 1,210. Satyam and Maruti have declined nearly 4% each to Rs 268 and Rs 593, respectively.
HDFC, SBI, ICICI Bank and Grasim are down 3.7% each at Rs 1,685, Rs 1,226, Rs 435 and Rs 1,011, respectively.
ACC, Hindalco, Reliance Infrastructure and Bharti Airtel are down around 3% each at Rs 457, Rs 59, Rs 505 and Rs 665, respectively.
Ranbaxy and Hindustan Unilever have moved up over 2% each to Rs 213 and Rs 243, respectively. ONGC has gained 1% at Rs 762.
