Sensex down 371pts; BHEL, Sterlite shed 7%

The Sensex is now down 371 points at 11,112.

Sterlite, BHEL and Tata Steel have slumped around 7% to Rs 302, Rs 1,383 and Rs 284, respectively.

Maruti and Jaiprakash Associates have plunged 5.5% each to Rs 679 and Rs 80, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Infosys have tumbled around 4.5% each to Rs 603, Rs 427, Rs 285 and Rs 1,334, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Communications, ITC and Satyam have slipped around 4% each to Rs 961, Rs 257, Rs 162 and Rs 278, respectively.

HDFC and Bharti Airtel have dropped over 3% each to Rs 1,778 and Rs 740, respectively.

ACC and Ranbaxy have advanced over 1% each to Rs 558 and Rs 284, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,233 stocks traded so far, 1,683 have declined, 496 have advanced and 44 are unchanged.
