The Sensex rebounded into the positive zone on the back of fresh buying and touched a high of 12,146. Earlier in the day, the index opened 30 points lower at 12,101, and then touched a low of 12,041.
The index is now down 12 points at 12,119.
Ranbaxy, Reliance Communications and Hindalco have gained 2.3% each at Rs 181, Rs 243 and Rs 64, respectively.
ONGC and Tata Power have rallied 2% each to Rs 903 and Rs 919, respectively.
SBI and Reliance Infrastructure have also advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 1,368 and Rs 807, respectively.
Reliance, NTPC, Bharti Airtel and DLF are up 1.3% each.
TCS has plunged over 3% to Rs 630. ICICI Bank has shed 2.8% at Rs 554.
Hindustan Unilever has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 233. Sterlite, Wipro, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel have declined around 1.5% each.
ITC and Infosys are also down over 1% each.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,273 stocks traded so far, 1,522 have advanced and 670 have declined today.
