The Sensex has pared some gains and is now up 212 points at 9,283.  Earlier in the day, the index had opened 137 points higher at 9,208, and rallied to a high of 9,388.

Reliance and Infosys have soared over 5.5% each to Rs 1,142 and Rs 1,299, respectively.

TCS, Tata Steel and Reliance Infrastructure have surged 4.5% each to Rs 547, Rs 212 and Rs 497, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindalco have rallied over 4% each to Rs 316 and Rs 51, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite have moved up 3.7% each to Rs 69 and Rs 272, respectively.

ICICI Bank has advanced 3.3% to Rs 440. Bharti Airtel has added 2.8% to Rs 624.

ONGC has gained 2.5% at Rs 647, and HDFC is up over 2% at Rs 1,588.

Sun Pharma, however, has slipped 1.5% to Rs 1,118.

The market breadth continues to remain fairly positive - out of 2,220 stocks traded so far, 1,302 have advanced, 832 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
