The Sensex has recovered most of its losses and is now down 110 points at 14,455.
Maruti and Ranbaxy have plunged over 3% each to Rs 630 and Rs 502, respectively.
Tata Steel has shed 2.8% at Rs 584, and Bharti Airtel has dropped 2.3% to Rs 818.
Reliance Communications and Infosys have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 388 and Rs 1,716, respectively.
ICICI Bank and Jaiprakash Associates have dropped over 1.5% each to Rs 661 and Rs 161, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever, NTPC and Tata Power are down 1.3% each at Rs 242, Rs 173 and Rs 1,038, respectively.
BHEL, however, has gained 1% at Rs 1,725.
Out of 2,617 stocks traded so far, 1,280 have declined, 1,240 have advanced and 97 are unchanged.
