Sensex recovers smartly; Infosys advances 3%

The Sensex has recovered smartly from the day's low of 13,310, and is now down 49 points 13,470.

Ranbaxy has plunged 6.5% to Rs 380. ICICI Bank has shed 5.6% at Rs 558.

Sterlite and ITC have dropped over 3.5% each to Rs 460 and Rs 187, respectively.

SBI and Grasim have slipped over 1.5% each to Rs 1,560 and Rs 1,897, respectively.

Reliance, Hindustan Unilever, BHEL and HDFC Bank are down around 1% each at Rs 1,906, Rs 238, Rs 1,631 and Rs 1,218, respectively.

ONGC has surged 4.3% to Rs 994. Infosys has rallied over 3% to Rs 1,615.

Satyam has gained 2.7% at Rs 366, and Tata Motors has advanced over 2% to Rs 407.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Wipro are up over 1% each at Rs 542 and Rs 396, respectively.

Out of 2,463 stocks traded so far, 1,214 have advanced, 1,169 have declined and 80 are unchanged.
