Sensex slips 113pts; IT index major loser

The Sensex recoverd and enterred the positive zone for a short time but however failed to hold its gains and thus slipped into the negative terrain again.

The index is now at 15,353, down 113 points.

Mahindra & Mahindra has soared 4% to Rs 798.

The BSE IT index has slipped 2.3% to 3,314.

HDFC Bank, Hindalco and Ranbaxy have advanced over 3%  each to Rs 1,1545, Rs 97 and Rs 208, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and NTPC have added 2.5% each to Rs 860, Rs 451 and Rs 225, respectively.

Sterlite, ITC and Reliance Communications are the other gainers above 1% each.

Infosys and ACC have slipped 3% each to Rs 1,750 and Rs 871, respectively.

ONGC, BHEL, Wipro, and SBI are down 2% each.

Tata Power, Maruti, Hindustan Unilever and Jaiprakash Associates have dropped 1% each.

The market breadth is negative, out of 2,538 shares traded, 912 have advanced and 1,553 have declined.
