Sensex up 264pts in early trades; Jaiprakash surges 5%

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 266 points at 12,068. The index touched a high of 12,181, and is now up 264 points at 12,065.

Jaiprakash Associates has surged 5.3% to Rs 106.

Reliance Communications and ICICI Bank have rallied over 4.5% each to Rs 314 and Rs 513, respectively.

HDFC, Tata Motors, ONGC and Tata Steel have gained around 3.5% each at Rs 2,036, Rs 325, Rs 1,015 and Rs 362, respectively.

TCS, Ranbaxy, Grasim and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced over 3% each to Rs 640, Rs 254, Rs 1,642 and Rs 658, respectively.

ITC, however, has slipped over 1% to Rs 178.
