Sugar declines on sluggish demand

Sugar prices declined at the Vashi Wholesale market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers amidst comfortable stocks positions.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) dropped by Rs 15/30 per quintal to Rs 2,936/3,011 from overnight closing level of Rs 2,951/3,041. 

Small sugar quality (S-30) also slipped by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 2,910/2,951, as compared to Rs 2,920/2,951 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,910/2,951 (Rs 2,920/ 2,951) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,936/3,011 (Rs 2,951/3,041)
