Software firm Wipro Technologies today surged over seven per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange on the back of an encouraging fourth quarter results.
Shares of Wipro jumped 7.54 per cent to touch a high of Rs 294.95 crore on the BSE. It was later trading at Rs 289.20, up 5.45 per cent.
A similar upward movement was seen on the National Stock Exchange, where the stock surged 9.65 per cent to touch a high of Rs 301. It later quoted at Rs 290.50, up 5.83 per cent.
A total of over 10.51 lakh shares of Wipro changed hands on both the bourses.
Wipro Technologies has reported a 14.77 per cent rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,010 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, against Rs 880 crore in the same quarter of FY'08.
The total income surged 13.55 per cent to Rs 6,583.20 crore in the March quarter, from Rs 5,797.40 crore in the same period last fiscal.
