The Discovery Sport will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that will come in two states of tune (147bhp and 187bhp) and the petrol will be a 245bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The Discovery Sport will be making its way into India on the 2nd of September and offered as a five and seven seater option.
Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said: We are very excited that Land Rovers most versatile premium SUV, Discovery Sport has received such an overwhelming response from our distinguished and discerning customers in India. Wethank them for their spirited response and reposing their trust once again in the iconic Land Rover brand.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be replacing the Freelander2 and will be competing with the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class (GLE-Class), Audi Q5 and the BMW X3. The Discovery Sport doesn't get a V6 engine option, like the others get but then the major sales come from the 2.0-litre engines for the German competitors as well.
