This facelift gets a new front grille, which somewhat resembles the Sonata and the aggressive fascia with chrome has gone. The head lamps and tail lamps have undergone minor tweaks. Unfortunately the LEDs have been taken off even from the top-of-the-line, which were the only unique feature on the Verna. Inside too, no major changes have been made and there are no additional features.
The Verna was initially available with loads of bell and whistles, much more than its competition. However, it seems Hyundai has lost that advantage to the competitors like the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The Verna 4S doesn't get touch-screen system and even navigation goes missing.
The engine options remain the same, with 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.6-litre engines get an out dated four-speed automatic transmission, while the competition has now come out with seven-speed dual clutch boxes. The rear disc brakes have been removed from manual diesel. Hyundai claims to have worked on the suspension for better ride and handling and even claims that the brakes have been improved as there were complains regarding the same.
Hyundai is also offering multiple airbags on the Verna 4S and the pricing of the new Verna is at par with the new Honda City. The one advantage with the Verna is that it is being offered with multiple engine and transmission options.
