A new survey has found that when you get into an interview, employers only look at your resume for a mere 15 seconds.
So, it is important to make your resume impressive enough that it stands out from the crowd, News.com.au reported.
Robin Ryan from career counsellor and author of Winning Resumes has revealed that employers are keen to know your achievements, therefore lance your CV with your accomplishments in past positions by showing your impact and productivity in the previous company.
Ryan advised to job seekers that they should use key words while writing their resume, which means making a list of the "buzz words" connected to perform your type of job.
It is important to target your resume specifically to the position as employers search quickly and skim to see if you can do a certain job.
The expert said that employers are primarily interested just in the work you've done in the past five to seven years, therefore be precise and limit your resume to two pages.
Ryan added that job seekers must start each sentence with a descriptive action verb such as "directed", "organised", which will help them get more attention with short impact sentences demonstrating what you have done.
At the end, do a final read through before sending it to employers.
