The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi is planning to promote the city as a 'historical centre', looking at heritage walks around the national capital for the same.
We are making people aware of the heritage walks in the capital. These walks have many benefits: one is that the people will get to know of the country's legacy, secondly early morning walks are very good for health, so we will promote the walks," Delhi Minister Jitender Singh Tomar told the media.
"We are also going to write to schools to bring their children for these heritage walks and will also provide them with subsidies. We want Delhi to be seen as a historical centre. There are many other ideas that we will soon bring forward," he added.
The government has nominated Delhi for the status of World Heritage City.
At present, three monuments in the city, namely Humayun's Tomb, Qutab Minar and the Red Fort Complex, have been recognised as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
