The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, saying that the Aam Aadmi Party Government is working against the welfare of the common man and has now become a 'Khaas-Aadmi Government'.
"The Aam Aadmi Party Government has become a 'Khaas admi ki sarkaar'. It is not for the common man. With the change in the VAT structure, there has been an increase in fuel prices and in everyday commodities. While the common man on the streets of Delhi will be facing inflation, the Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal has been spending over Rs. one lakh on his electricity bill. This proves that this government is only for the Khaas Aadmi," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.
Kejriwal has come under harsh criticism after the VAT Bill was passed yesterday.
The newly passed bill will make enabling provisions for levy of VAT in respect of goods enlisted in the Fourth Schedule at flexible rates instead of a flat slab of 20 percent.
