Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) RP Thakur on Saturday clarified that the state police had no issue with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the bribery case involving MK Ramneswar, Superintendent, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) range office, Machilipatnam.
Talking to media persons, Thakur said that the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Andhra Pradesh has much more manpower than the CBI in the state. "The victim had first complained to the state ACB and much later to the CBI," he said.
"After receiving the complaint, the ACB took up the case, laid the trap and took the action as well. ACB has full faith and trust in the CBI, and appreciate their sincerity in controlling corruption," said added Thakur.
It is worth mentioning that K Lokesh Babu from Machilipatnam, West Godavari district had complained against M K Ramaneswar, Superintendent, CBIC , Machilipatnam range , alleging that the latter asked for bribe for not raising objections in the CGST return filed by his firm.
"The complainant had much earlier tried to contact the ACB as he had given two missed calls. The ACB contacted him and followed the case," added DGP.
