Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah on Tuesday took charge of the Pakistan Navy at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad after outgoing Naval chief Asif Sandila handed over the command to him.
Wishing Admiral Zakaullah success, Sandila said while speaking at the change of command ceremony that Pakistan Navy was safeguarding the sea frontiers of Pakistan despite limited resources and that it had proved to be an effective arm of defence of Pakistan.
President Mamnoon Hussain, on October 2, had promoted Vice Admiral Zakaullah to the rank of Admiral and appointed him the Chief of Pakistan Navy on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Dawn reports.
Two times Asian Games gold medalist and an ace yachtsman, Zakaullah, in his speech, thanked the president for appointing him as the new chief, and pledged that he will fulfill his duties.
