Fakuri Behishti, Member of Parliament for Bamiyan was wounded and his bodyguard killed after a roadside mine was detonated against his vehicle.
Behishti was reportedly on his way to parliament when the incident took place in Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul.
Earlier reports suggested it was a magnetic IED but officials later confirmed that it was a roadside mine.
Tolo News quoted a source, as saying that Behishti is in critical condition in hospital after sustaining back injuries.
Several people including the son of Behishti were also injured in the attack.
No group including the Taliban has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
