Acclaimed American singer Selena Gomez, who seems to be having a long list of requirements when it comes to dating, has said that she would like to date a "low-key" guy.

In a cover interview with Vogue Australia, the 24-year-old 'Same Old Love' hit maker said, "The guys that do have the confidence to hit on me are not necessarily my type, but they think they are because I'm a pop star, I sing songs, do movies, I like to feel sexy and confident on stage," reports the Us Magazine.

"I'd be so stoked with a writer or producer or actor who is low-key, but those kind of guys are terrified of me," she added.

Gomez recently called it quits with former boyfriend and pop superstar Justin Bieber after dating him on and off for six years. She was then linked to Orlando Bloom in May but speculations were soon shunned.

"For a while my private life was the most talked about thing. Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume. You want to do what you love but all this other stuff overshadows it so it makes it a little harder for people to take me seriously," she said.

The 'Spring Breaker' actress, however, said she is going to take charge of her story and will be careful about whom she dates.

"I think people would think it's kind of dumb [to date me]. Nobody would want to throw themselves into that situation where it was so heightened publicly, like, why would they? " said the 'Kill Em With Kindness' singer.

The magazine will be out in September.
