The search for the doomed AirAsia flight's black box recorders could take a week, an aviation official said.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Toos Sanitiyoso, an air safety investigator with the National Committee for Transportation Safety, said it could take a week to find the black box, suggesting there was still doubt over the plane's location.

He said that the focus was on finding the main site of the wreckage and then the black box.

A large plane-shaped shadow, believed to be the fuselage of the ill-fated AirAsia flight has been spotted in Java sea.

The report said that five crew among 47 divers were on standby to investigate the shadow sighted by a search and rescue pilot.

AirAsia flight QZ8501, flying from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore with 162 people on board, lost contact with air traffic control on Sunday.
