The Janata Dal United (JDU) on Thursday took a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, who will be starting his campaign for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, saying the Chief Minister should have started campaigning in his house instead of campaigning in the state.
"Instead of going around and campaigning for votes in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister should have started campaign in his own house. He has failed to win any favours in his own house," JD(U) leader Ajay Alok told ANI.
Echoing similar views, another JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan opined that Akhilesh's sphere of influence in the state and in his own house has been decreasing. He remained doubtful of the Samajwadi Party's capability in winning votes in the 2017 assembly polls.
"Akhilesh's sphere of influencing in Uttar Pradesh is drastically coming down. The Samajwadi Party is in a state of disarray. Whatever he is doing in Uttar Pradesh it will not het him any votes," Ranjan said.
The JD(U) comments comes against the backdrop of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav remaining silent on the possibility of Akhilesh being re-nominated as the party's face for chief ministers in the UP polls.
Yadav said that the chief minister would be decided by the elected legislators and the parliamentary board after the assembly polls.
