Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday criticised the Congress, stating that the grand old party had little to show in terms of achievement in nearly six decades of rule.

"[The Congress] has ruled for the last sixty years and it has disappointed the nation. Tell me what has been done... in the last sixty years? Why there is no electricity and no colleges?" Shah asked.

The Naranpura MLA also took a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, saying that he has not been able to notice the changes under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government because of his 'Italian glasses'.

"When Rahul Gandhi, came here he said nothing has changed in last five months. He won't notice changes because he has been wearing Italian sunglasses. I will tell what has changed. Earlier, Pakistan used to start and end the firing at the border areas, while now, under (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi, Pakistan's army may start the firing, but it is stopped by the Indian Army. We give them with a befitting reply," Shah told at a rally here.

Thanking the people of Jharkhand for electing a single party government at the Centre he asked the people to vote for the BJP to make the state number one in the country.

"After 30 years, a single party got absolute majority and Jharkhand has contributed to it significantly. Elect BJP in the coming assembly polls with a two-thirds majority and it will ensure that this state will be turned into number one state of this country," he said.

Jharkhand recorded an impressive 62 percent voter turnout in the first phase of assembly elections last week.

The state is scheduled to enter the second phase of its five-phase assembly polls on December 2. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
