Veteran South African batsman Hashim Amla may reportedly miss the second Test against Pakistan in Dubai as his wife is due to give birth.
Amla's wife's impending delivery could see the cricketer return to South Africa and therefore miss the second Test, which starts on October 23.
According to Sport24, the loss of Amla for the second and final Test could be a big blow to the world's No 1 team as Amla currently occupies the No 1 ranking in both Tests and ODIs.
The report mentioned that Amla might probably be replaced by young left-handed batsman Dean Elgar if he decides to give the Test a miss.
According to the report, South Africa will depart for Dubai on Friday, and start their tour with a three-day game against Pakistan A in Sharjah next Tuesday, adding that the first Test starts in Abu Dhabi on October 14, while there will also be five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 games.
