The spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the three-match Twenty20 series against England beginning on January 26 at Green Park, Kanpur.
"The All-India Senior Selection committee in consultation with Team India management has decided to rest spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja from the Paytm T20I series against England," the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
Leg-spinner Amit Mishra and off-spinner Parvez Rasool have been brought into the squad as a replacement for Ashwin and Jadeja, respectively.
Ashwin had a forgettable three-match ODI series against England, which the home side went to clinch by 2-1. He notched up just three wickets in three ODIs while giving away 60 or more runs in all the matches.
Jadeja, on the other hand, claimed four wickets in three games but at 5.23, which made him the most economical bowler of the series.
It will be India's last limited overs series before the 2017 Champions Trophy, where India are the defending champions.
